The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation (WFBF) has endorsed Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) for reelection, marking the first time in 20 years the organization has supported a Democrat for statewide office. Baldwin, running for her third Senate term, secured the endorsement alongside Republican Representatives Tom Tiffany and Derrick Van Orden, reflecting a bipartisan backing from the state’s largest general farm organization.
WFBF President Brad Olson praised Baldwin and the endorsed representatives for their efforts to address critical challenges facing Wisconsin farmers. These efforts include securing crop insurance, expanding market access for American agricultural products, and advancing agricultural research and innovation.
Baldwin expressed gratitude for the endorsement, emphasizing her commitment to prioritizing Wisconsin's agricultural sector in Washington. She highlighted her work on the Dairy Pride Act, introduced in 2023, aimed at protecting dairy products from being labeled alongside nondairy alternatives. Wisconsin leads the nation in cheese production, and Baldwin's legislation focuses on maintaining the integrity of dairy products.
The WFBF also commended Baldwin’s role in the 2018 Farm Bill, which provided resources for dairy operations to grow and mental health support for farmers. Baldwin’s continued focus on rural and farming communities has contributed to her popularity among Wisconsin’s rural voters.
