The White House announced on Tuesday that it believes Iran is preparing to launch an imminent ballistic missile attack against Israel. A senior U.S. official stated that the U.S. is actively supporting Israel's defensive preparations and warned Iran that any direct attack would result in severe consequences.
“The United States has indications that Iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel,” the official said, adding that the U.S. is prepared to assist Israel in intercepting any missiles, similar to its support during an Iranian missile and drone attack in April.
In response, the Israeli military stated it has not yet detected any immediate threat from Iran. Daniel Hagari, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, said, “As of this moment, Israel does not perceive an imminent threat from Iran,” though he confirmed Israeli forces remain on high alert, closely monitoring the situation.
Tensions have risen in recent weeks as Israel has intensified its operations against Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group in Lebanon. On Monday, Israel launched a ground operation in southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah positions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged citizens to follow military directives and stay united as concerns about an attack grow. “What I ask of you is to strictly obey the frontline command—it saves lives. And stand together,” Netanyahu said.
