The White House and Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign have denied using any information stolen by Iranian hackers from former President Donald Trump's campaign. U.S. intelligence agencies revealed on Wednesday that a group of Iranian hackers targeted both Trump’s and President Joe Biden’s campaigns earlier this summer. The hackers allegedly attempted to share the stolen Trump data with Biden’s campaign.
In response, Trump's campaign called for both the Harris and Biden campaigns to disclose whether they used the hacked materials. The White House stated that President Biden was informed of the attempted data sharing only on Wednesday. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that the administration had taken actions against such interference and would continue to protect the democratic process.
The Harris campaign reiterated that none of the hacked materials were used and noted their cooperation with law enforcement investigations. However, they did not confirm whether they would publicly disclose the information they received.
The FBI, alongside other agencies, described the incident as part of Iran's efforts to undermine confidence in U.S. elections. The hackers also attempted to share Trump campaign information with the media, though it remains unclear if any data was published.
