The Uncommitted National Movement, a grassroots organization in the United States, has stated that it will not endorse Kamala Harris for president. The group had requested a meeting with Harris’s team to discuss U.S. policy towards Israel and the Gaza conflict, specifically addressing concerns from families of Palestinians affected by the ongoing war. The group said the request, set with a September 15 deadline, did not receive a response.
The Uncommitted National Movement is urging Harris, who is currently the vice president and a 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, to reconsider U.S. military support for Israel. The group’s call comes amid a conflict that, according to reports, has resulted in thousands of casualties in Gaza. Despite this, the group claims that Harris has not indicated any intention to alter U.S. military aid to Israel.
With less than 50 days remaining before the election, the Uncommitted National Movement expressed concerns that Harris’s policies align too closely with those of President Joe Biden, who has consistently backed Israel. The movement, therefore, announced it cannot endorse Harris for the upcoming election.
