A recent analysis by Fox News revealed that former President Donald Trump and Senator J.D. Vance have conducted significantly more media interviews than Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. According to the report, Trump and Vance have participated in 63 interviews, while Harris and Walz have completed 23 since Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee for the 2024 election.
Harris, who assumed her role as the presumptive nominee 75 days ago after President Biden withdrew from the race, has not held a formal news conference during that time. While Harris has given interviews to outlets such as Wisconsin Public Radio and the National Association of Black Journalists, the lower number of interviews and absence of a formal press conference have become a point of criticism.
Trump, in particular, commented on this issue in August, claiming that Harris avoids answering questions. The topic was also raised during an interview on CNN when Harris' communications director, Michael Tyler, was asked about the campaign’s press strategy. Tyler assured that the campaign will engage with voters through various channels, including rallies, interviews, and press conferences.
