Former President Donald Trump has announced that if he loses the 2024 election to Vice President Kamala Harris, he will not run for president again in 2028. In a recent interview with Sharyl Attkisson on Full Measure, Trump confirmed that this election will be his last attempt at the presidency.
When asked directly if he would consider running in 2028, Trump responded, "No, I don’t. I think that will be it. I don’t see that at all," adding, "Hopefully, we’re going to be successful." Trump's 2024 campaign follows his loss to President Joe Biden in 2020, an outcome he has attributed to allegations of voter fraud, despite these claims being widely debunked.
Initially, the 2024 election was expected to be a rematch between Biden and Trump. However, after Biden's withdrawal as the Democratic nominee in July, Vice President Harris stepped in, receiving Biden's endorsement. Polls now indicate that Harris is gaining ground, with some showing her leading in key battleground states.
Trump’s interview also came amid investigations into an alleged second assassination attempt on him while he was golfing in West Palm Beach, Florida. This follows a previous shooting at one of his rallies in Butler, Pennsylvania. Both incidents are under investigation by the House of Representatives.
