Recent polls conducted in North Carolina following last week’s presidential debate show former President Donald Trump leading Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. The polls indicate a close race, with results falling within the margin of error as the November 5 election approaches.
In a Quantus Poll, Trump holds a 1.7% lead, while the AmericanGreatness/TIPP Insights poll shows him with a 48.9% to 45.9% advantage. Similarly, a Trafalgar Group poll places Trump ahead with 48.4% compared to Harris's 46%. RealClear Polling aggregates these results, showing Trump with a narrow 0.4% lead in the state.
North Carolina, holding 16 electoral votes, is one of seven key battleground states in the 2024 election. Political figures from both parties have been campaigning heavily in the state, with recent visits by Vice President Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Trump's running mate, Senator J.D. Vance, is also expected to visit the state soon.
Historically, since 1964, only two Democratic candidates, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama, have carried North Carolina in presidential elections. Trump secured victories in the state in both 2016 and 2020, winning by narrow margins.
