Former President Donald Trump was confirmed safe after gunshots were fired in his vicinity at the Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The incident occurred while Trump was golfing, according to a statement from his campaign communications director, Steven Cheung.
Law enforcement responded swiftly to the scene. Martin County authorities arrested an individual linked to the incident at Trump International Golf Club. The suspect, a lone driver, was apprehended on I-95 and was unarmed, according to the Martin County Sheriff.
The Secret Service announced an investigation into the event, working in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. A spokesperson for the Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, confirmed the investigation and reiterated that Trump was safe.
Two law enforcement sources reported that an AK-style firearm was found near the golf course. Trump himself sent a message to his supporters, saying, "There were gunshots in my vicinity, but I AM SAFE AND WELL."
The White House confirmed that both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had been briefed on the incident. Vice President Harris stated that she was informed of the situation and emphasized that violence has no place in society.
