Former President Donald Trump on Thursday called for the rebidding of all major TV network broadcast licenses following a controversy involving CBS News's program "60 Minutes." Trump accused the network of bias and claimed it altered an answer given by Vice President Kamala Harris during an interview, describing the situation as a "fake news scandal."
In his remarks, Trump criticized CBS for its decision to edit the interview and accused the network of engaging in "fraud." He suggested that CBS and other networks should lose their licenses and that the government should allow new competition by rebidding them to the highest bidder.
The controversy centers on an edited segment in which Harris discussed U.S. foreign aid for Israel in its war against Hamas. Trump alleged that the edit was designed to make Harris look better and labeled it as "illegal" and "election interference."
CBS News has not commented on the editing decision, while the Harris campaign denied involvement, stating that they do not control CBS’s production choices. The original interview aired with different responses than those shared in promotional clips, fueling further debate.
