A recent Rasmussen Reports survey has found that a significant portion of likely voters believe former President Donald Trump may face a third assassination attempt before the upcoming presidential election. Approximately two-thirds of respondents think it is at least somewhat likely that such an attempt could occur prior to November 5, with notable agreement across political affiliations.
Specifically, 75% of Republican voters, 56% of Democratic voters, and 64% of those not affiliated with either major party expressed this belief. Among those who consider the possibility "very likely," 63% attribute the motivation for potential attempts to the rhetoric of Trump's critics, particularly President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who have characterized Trump as a threat to democracy.
This survey comes in the wake of two earlier assassination attempts on Trump, both of which were linked to individuals with Democratic sympathies. The findings reflect growing concerns regarding political tensions and the safety of political figures as the 2024 election approaches, highlighting the potential consequences of heated political discourse.
