Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer has suggested that Democrats are preparing multiple explanations should they lose the upcoming U.S. presidential election. Speaking with Sky News, Spicer shared that he had spoken to Democratic insiders who “just can’t believe they’re losing” to former President Donald Trump, who leads in key swing states.
Polls indicate Trump has gained momentum, overtaking Vice President Kamala Harris in several battleground states. Economist Christophe Barraud also projected a likely Trump victory with a GOP sweep. Spicer added that Harris’s camp may cite reasons such as President Biden not withdrawing from the race sooner or Harris’s limited media engagements if the election ends in defeat.
In further criticism, former White House staffer Barbara Heineback described Harris’s campaign as “coming unglued,” noting her hesitance to choose Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as a running mate due to perceived insecurities. According to Heineback, Harris’s campaign shifted from a positive message to comparing Trump supporters to Nazis, with advisors limiting her media interactions.
