Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., has raised concerns that the U.S. Secret Service is providing security based on individuals' titles rather than the threats they face. Speaking on the John Solomon Reports podcast, Crane used former President Donald Trump as an example, citing two recent assassination attempts, including one at Trump’s West Palm Beach, Florida golf course.
Crane emphasized that Trump faces significant threats and questioned whether the Secret Service is adequately addressing those threats. He called for the agency to re-evaluate its security approach, suggesting that relying solely on Trump's non-acting president status may not be sufficient in determining his level of protection.
Following the assassination attempts, Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe requested additional funding from lawmakers to enhance the agency’s ability to meet its security obligations. Crane also advised that Trump consider strengthening his private security to ensure comprehensive protection.
