A recent poll conducted by The New York Times in key Sun Belt swing states reveals former President Donald Trump leading Vice President Kamala Harris in Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina. The survey indicates that Trump is ahead by 5 points in Arizona, 4 points in Georgia, and 2 points in North Carolina.
The poll also asked respondents about the impact of Trump’s policies during his presidency and Harris's potential policies. In Arizona, 46% of participants said Trump’s policies helped them, while 34% felt they were hurt by them. Similar results were found in Georgia, where 43% said they benefited from Trump’s policies, and in North Carolina, 46% shared this sentiment.
When asked about Harris's potential policies, the results were less favorable for the vice president. In Arizona, 36% said her policies would help, while 43% felt they would hurt. In Georgia and North Carolina, her policies also had negative margins, with more respondents believing they would be harmful.
The poll further highlighted differences in opinion based on education, race, and political affiliation. Those without college degrees overwhelmingly supported Trump’s policies, while college-educated voters leaned slightly towards Harris. Among independents, 43% felt Trump’s policies had helped, while 42% thought Harris’s would hurt.
The results of this poll reflect the early sentiment in these battleground states ahead of the 2024 election.
