Poll shows GOP challenger Theriault leads Rep. Golden in Maine's 2nd District race

A recent poll shows Republican candidate Austin Theriault, a former stock car racer, leading incumbent Democratic Rep. Jared Golden in the race for Maine's 2nd District House seat. Theriault has 47% support, compared to Golden's 44%. Nine percent of the 800 voters surveyed remain undecided.

The poll's margin of error is 3.5%, indicating the race is statistically close. Golden, who has represented the district since 2010, is considered one of the most vulnerable Democrats in the House. The district is notable for having supported former President Donald Trump in both the 2016 and 2020 elections.
