Authorities in Kentucky are searching for a gunman after as many as seven people were injured in a shooting along a rural stretch of Interstate 75 on Saturday evening. The incident occurred near the town of London, Kentucky, just before 6pm, prompting the temporary closure of the major north-south highway in both directions.
The Kentucky State Police reported that between four and six people were hurt, with local news station WYMT describing "multiple severe injuries" but no confirmed fatalities. The shots were reportedly fired from a wooded area or possibly an overpass.
Police are searching for 32-year-old Joseph Couch, who is considered armed and dangerous. Residents have been warned not to approach him. The search is focused on rugged terrain near the highway, and the investigation is ongoing.
This incident comes shortly after a tragic school shooting in Georgia, where two students and two teachers were killed. Gun violence continues to be a pressing issue in the United States, a country with more firearms than people.
