North Korea has announced the successful test of an enhanced rocket launcher system, conducted today in the presence of leader Kim Jong Un. According to the state-run news agency KCNA, the test involved a multiple rocket launcher featuring new guidance technology and 240-millimeter caliber projectiles.
The development comes amid accusations from U.S. and South Korean officials that North Korea has been supplying large quantities of artillery shells to Russia. Recently, Kim Jong Un emphasized the importance of developing and producing additional kamikaze drones as a "key component of war preparation."
Speculation about North Korea's arms supply to Russia has intensified. Just yesterday, a South Korean lawmaker, citing intelligence reports, suggested that since 2022, North Korea may have shipped a total of 13,000 containers potentially containing weapons to Russia, possibly including up to six million artillery shells, as reported by Yonhap News Agency.
Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have been escalating, with the U.S. and South Korea currently conducting large-scale military exercises. North Korea’s foreign ministry has condemned these drills as "provocative war exercises" and a "prelude to nuclear war," accusations that Washington and Seoul have firmly denied.
