On Friday, September 6, new polls from The Hill/Emerson and The University of Texas revealed significant trends in the 2024 U.S. presidential race, with former President Donald Trump holding leads over Vice President Kamala Harris in key battleground states.
In Florida, Trump is leading Harris by 5 points, with 50% of support compared to Harris’s 45%, according to The Hill/Emerson poll. This result mirrors Trump's strong standing in other swing states.
In Texas, two polls show Trump maintaining a slight edge. The Hill/Emerson poll has Trump at 50% and Harris at 46%, giving him a 4-point lead. The University of Texas poll puts Trump at 49% and Harris at 44%, increasing the lead to 5 points. In a multi-candidate poll that included Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian Chase Oliver, Trump still leads with 49%, followed by Harris at 44%, Stein at 2%, and Oliver with less than 1%.
Trump’s lead widens further in Ohio, where he commands 53% of the vote, 10 points ahead of Harris, who stands at 43%, according to The Hill/Emerson.
However, in Harris's home state of California, she holds a commanding lead, with 60% of the vote compared to Trump’s 36%, giving her a decisive 24-point advantage, according to The Hill/Emerson.
