Naomi Campbell is a British model, born on May 22, 1970, in Streatham, London. She was raised by her mother, Valerie Morris, a Jamaican-born dancer. At the age of 15, Campbell was discovered by a modeling agent while shopping in Covent Garden. Her first notable appearance in the fashion industry occurred when she was featured on the cover of British Elle shortly before her 16th birthday. Over the years, she became one of the most recognized faces in international modeling.
In 1988, Campbell became the first Black model to appear on the cover of French Vogue. She also became the first Black model to be featured on the cover of TIME magazine. Campbell has worked with many of the world’s top designers and fashion houses, including Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, and Chanel.
