The charges include allegations of failing to provide accurate financial records, breaching spending regulations, and non-compliance with investigations. A three-person commission began reviewing evidence on September 16, 2024, with a verdict expected before the end of the season.

The investigation began following claims made in 2018 by the German news magazine Der Spiegel, which alleged that City manipulated financial figures to bypass UEFA regulations. The club denies the charges and asserts that their case is supported by substantial evidence.

Figures like Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, have commented on the matter, while City manager Pep Guardiola emphasized trust in the legal process.

This is not the first time Manchester City has faced similar accusations. In 2020, UEFA banned the club from the Champions League for inflating sponsorship revenues, though the ban was later overturned.
