A recent Quinnipiac University poll has found that a majority of voters are interested in a rematch debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump prior to the upcoming November elections. The survey, conducted from September 19 to 22 with a sample of 1,728 likely voters, indicates that 64% of respondents support another debate between the two candidates, while 31% do not.
Harris and Trump participated in a debate on September 10 in Philadelphia. Trump also debated President Joe Biden separately while seeking reelection in June. The poll does not specify a clear winner of the prior debates, as both sides made claims of victory.
Harris has shown interest in a second presidential debate, while Trump has not yet confirmed participation in additional debates. The poll results suggest that if the election were held at the time of the survey, both candidates would receive 48% of the vote. Additionally, Trump's voter enthusiasm reportedly increased from 68% in August to 71% in September, while Harris's enthusiasm decreased from 75% to 70% during the same timeframe.
The poll also explored voters' perceptions of the candidates on various issues, indicating that Trump is viewed more favorably on immigration and economic issues, while Harris is seen as stronger on topics such as preserving democracy and gun violence. The margin of error for the poll is plus or minus 2.4 percentage points.
