US rock band Linkin Park has announced Emily Armstrong as their new lead singer, marking a significant shift for the band following the tragic passing of former vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017. Armstrong, the lead singer of alt-rock band Dead Sara, will share vocal duties with founding member Mike Shinoda in the band’s forthcoming album From Zero and world tour.
Armstrong, who co-founded Dead Sara in 2005, expressed her deep connection with Linkin Park’s music, particularly their iconic 2000 album Hybrid Theory, which inspired her as a young musician. "That album was everything," she shared in a recent interview with Billboard.
Joining Armstrong in the refreshed lineup is Colin Brittain, who will replace long-time drummer Rob Bourdon. Brittain, known for his work with bands like Papa Roach and All Time Low, will join returning members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn.
Linkin Park’s upcoming tour will be their first since Bennington’s death and will kick off this month, with stops in major cities like Los Angeles, New York, and London. The tour will coincide with the release of their new single, The Emptiness Machine, which premiered during a live-streamed performance on Thursday.
