Charles Leclerc celebrated a significant victory at the Italian Grand Prix, marking his second win of the season after his earlier triumph at the Monaco Grand Prix. This win at Monza, the home of Scuderia Ferrari, is particularly special for Leclerc, as it is his seventh career victory and his second at this iconic circuit.
Starting from fourth on the grid, Leclerc skillfully navigated the race, moving up after a mistake by George Russell and taking advantage of a battle between the McLaren drivers. Despite losing position after the first round of pit stops, Leclerc’s one-stop strategy, planned from the outset, allowed him to regain the lead after the second pit stops and maintain it until the end.
Leclerc’s tire management was key to his success, enabling him to stay ahead of the competition. This victory concludes a series of strong performances, with consecutive podiums in Belgium, the Netherlands, and now Italy.
Leclerc expressed his joy at winning both Monaco and Monza, races he had dreamed of since childhood. "If there were two races to choose, these would be it," he said, highlighting the special atmosphere created by the passionate fans and tifosi at Monza.
He also credited the recent improvements by Ferrari, acknowledging that while they might not guarantee victory in every race, they played a crucial role in his win at Monza.
