Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are scheduled to hold separate townhall events hosted by Univision in October. The townhalls are designed to engage Hispanic voters, with Trump participating first on October 8 in Miami, which has a Hispanic population of approximately 70%. Harris will follow on October 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Both events are set to air at 10 p.m. Eastern time on their respective dates. Daniel Coronell, president of Noticias Univision, indicated that there are over 36 million eligible Hispanic voters in the U.S., making this demographic significant in influencing the presidential election.
The discussions will be moderated by Univision journalist Enrique Acevedo. These townhalls occur after Trump declined to take part in a presidential debate with Harris. The locations were selected based on current polling trends, with Trump leading Harris in Florida, while Harris holds a narrow lead over Trump in Nevada, a swing state with six electoral votes.
The townhalls provide an opportunity for both candidates to communicate with voters in these important states ahead of the 2024 election.
