Jake Paul has sparked another major boxing storyline after accepting an Instagram challenge from IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, days after defeating boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Paul’s unanimous decision victory over the 58-year-old Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, drew mixed reactions from fans and experts, with some celebrating his success and others criticizing the matchup. Despite the backlash, Paul is already setting sights on his next opponent.
Dubois, who defended his heavyweight title against Anthony Joshua in September, sent Paul a direct message: “Hi Jake, good business on the weekend but how would you feel fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world? Let’s get it on.”
Paul responded with a ticket dispenser meme saying “get in line” but later hinted at taking the offer seriously. “F**k it… I’m going to have Nakisa talk to Frankie Warren and get you in line for the throne,” he said.
The fight world reacted swiftly. Former British champion Carl Froch mocked Paul, offering to fight him with “one arm tied behind my back.” Meanwhile, Russian-Canadian champion Artur Beterbiev dismissed Paul’s credentials, challenging him to a bout instead.
The Paul vs. Tyson event broke records, with over 70,000 fans filling the stadium and Netflix streaming to 60 million households. However, technical glitches during the broadcast marred an otherwise historic night.
