Israeli air attacks on Lebanon result in over 50 deaths and hundreds wounded

Israeli air strikes on southern Lebanon have led to at least 50 fatalities and over 300 injuries, according to Lebanese health officials. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported that among the victims were children, women, and medics following the attacks on Monday.

The Israeli military issued warnings to civilians to evacuate areas identified as being used by Hezbollah. Residents across Lebanon, including in Beirut, received phone warnings advising them to relocate to safer locations. Israeli forces conducted over 300 air strikes, escalating operations against Hezbollah after the group launched missiles into northern Israel the previous day.

The current escalation follows a series of explosions in Lebanon last week, resulting in numerous casualties. An Israeli military spokesperson announced extensive strikes on Hezbollah positions, aiming to address security concerns for Israeli residents near the border.

Israeli forces targeted various towns and regions, including the Bekaa Valley and northern Lebanon. This exchange of fire represents a marked increase in hostilities, with Hezbollah also launching rocket attacks on Israeli military sites. These developments occur amid ongoing tensions since the commencement of Israeli military operations in Gaza in October.
