Several prominent Republicans who previously opposed Donald Trump have expressed renewed support for the former president, rallying behind him in the final stretch of the election campaign. Figures such as Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, former Ambassador Gordon Sondland, and former Attorney General William Barr have publicly endorsed Trump, citing concerns over the policies of the Biden-Harris administration.
Governor Kemp, who had a public fallout with Trump following the 2020 election, appeared alongside the former president at a recent event in Georgia. Kemp acknowledged their past differences but emphasized the importance of working together for the state’s recovery from Hurricane Helene.
Gordon Sondland, who testified against Trump during his first impeachment trial, reversed his stance, citing dissatisfaction with the current administration. He expressed concerns about the impact of Biden-Harris policies on national security and America’s standing internationally.
Nikki Haley, Trump’s former rival in the GOP primary, also reaffirmed her support in a letter signed by over 300 national security figures. The letter criticized the administration’s foreign policy approach, particularly in light of escalating tensions in the Middle East.
While many Republicans are reuniting with Trump, some, such as former Representative Liz Cheney, remain vocal in their opposition. Cheney continues to campaign against Trump, aligning with Vice President Kamala Harris on key issues.
