Vice President Kamala Harris has maintained a cautious campaign strategy as she nears the final stretch of the presidential race. While she participated in one debate and a limited number of interviews, Harris has largely relied on scripted speeches and controlled appearances, leaving some voters unsure of her platform.
Since becoming the Democratic nominee, Harris has engaged in one solo interview and a joint interview with her running mate, Tim Walz. Her public appearances have primarily been limited to campaign stops and social media content. Some observers suggest this approach could prevent voters from gaining a clearer understanding of her positions.
Harris’s debate on Tuesday offered one of her most prominent opportunities to connect with voters. However, with no additional debates scheduled, it is uncertain if she will have another chance to significantly influence voter opinions before Election Day.
Harris’s approach contrasts with that of her opponent, Donald Trump, who frequently engages in unscripted interviews and speeches. A recent poll from The New York Times-Siena College indicated that 28% of voters wanted to learn more about Harris, compared to 9% for Trump.
Harris's team has announced plans to increase local press interviews in swing states in an effort to connect with undecided voters.
