Vice President Kamala Harris has gained momentum in the Democratic Party since President Joe Biden's departure from the presidential race, receiving endorsements and increasing enthusiasm among supporters. However, some essential voters in critical "blue wall" states appear less enthusiastic about Harris compared to Biden. Recent internal polling from the Teamsters union indicates that former President Donald Trump leads Harris nearly two-to-one among its members, marking the first time since 1996 that the union has not endorsed the Democratic ticket.
Before Biden stepped down, Teamsters members supported him over Trump by a margin of 44.3% to 36.3%. Following the transition, however, Trump’s support surged to nearly 60%, while Harris’s approval fell to the low 30s in subsequent polls. This shift poses a potential threat to Democrats' prospects in swing states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
In addition to challenges within the Democratic ticket, illegal immigration has reportedly increased under the Biden administration, raising concerns among voters regarding crime and resource strain. Representative Tony Gonzales (R-TX) has highlighted organized crime networks recruiting illegal immigrants to conduct oil theft in regions vital to national oil production. Gonzales is advocating for improved funding and harsher penalties to combat these issues effectively.
