Vice President Kamala Harris's presidential campaign is set to roll out an advertising campaign aimed at former President Donald Trump, coinciding with his anticipated attendance at the Georgia vs. Alabama college football game. The campaign includes national television ads and a plane flying over the stadium with a banner reading, "Trump’s Punting on 2nd Debate."
Michael Tyler, communications director for the Harris campaign, stated that Trump left the first debate feeling frustrated and without a clear vision for his agenda. The campaign's messaging suggests that Trump is avoiding a second debate to conceal his perceived weaknesses and the unpopularity of his "Project 2025" agenda.
The aerial banner is expected to attract attention from the tens of thousands of fans at the game, while the television ads will reach a wider audience. The ad features a narrator stating, “Winners never back down from a challenge,” implying that Trump's decision to avoid a second debate reflects a lack of competitiveness.
Trump has yet to confirm his participation in a second debate, scheduled for October 23, citing concerns about the timing as some voters may have already cast their ballots. In past election cycles, Trump participated in mid-October debates against Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020.
