Brian Jeffrey Raymond, a longtime CIA officer, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for drugging, photographing, and sexually assaulting more than two dozen women during his assignments in various countries. Raymond’s assaults, which began in 2006, were discovered after a naked woman was found screaming from his Mexico City apartment in 2020. Investigators uncovered over 500 images documenting the assaults.
Raymond lured women through dating apps, drugged them at his government-leased apartments, and photographed them while they were unconscious. Victims testified in court, sharing how the assaults shattered their confidence and trust in others. One described feeling like a "corpse" in the photos shown by investigators.
The CIA condemned Raymond's actions, stating there is "no excuse for his appalling behavior." The agency has since introduced reforms to address sexual misconduct. Raymond also expressed regret during his sentencing, acknowledging his actions and apologizing to the victims.
