Former San Diego Sector Border Patrol Chief Aaron Heitke testified before a House committee that the Biden-Harris administration prevented him from releasing details about the number of suspected terrorists encountered at the U.S.-Mexico border.
"I was told I could not release any information on this increase in SIAs [Special Interest Aliens] or mention any of the arrests. The administration was trying to convince the public there was no threat at the border," Heitke stated on Wednesday during a House Committee on Homeland Security hearing titled, "A Country Without Borders: How Biden-Harris’ Open-Borders Policies Have Undermined Our Safety and Security."
Rep. Clay Higgins, R-La., chairman of the subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement, criticized the administration, claiming it has led to a "self-inflicted border crisis" and posed a "threat to the homeland from within."
Higgins argued that by dismantling effective border policies from the Trump administration, the current administration has left the country vulnerable to terrorists and criminals who now freely move within communities.
