The FBI is investigating an alleged assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump after shots were reportedly fired near him at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida. Secret Service agents engaged a suspect who was aiming a rifle at the golf course, though it remains unclear if any shots were fired at the agents. The suspect fled the scene in a black SUV and was later detained by law enforcement in Martin County.
Authorities recovered a rifle with a telescopic sight and a camera at the scene. Trump’s campaign confirmed that he was safe following the incident.
This investigation follows an earlier incident in July where Trump was grazed by a bullet during a rally in Pennsylvania. Following that event, Trump's campaign increased security measures, including bulletproof enclosures at public events.
Several world leaders condemned the recent incident, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris also expressed relief that Trump was unharmed and reiterated their stance against political violence.
