As the November election approaches, multiple states and local jurisdictions across the U.S. are addressing various election-related issues. With some voters already participating in early or absentee voting, problems such as non-citizens on voter rolls and duplicate ballots are raising concerns about election integrity.
Rep. Bryan Steil, chairman of the House Administration Committee, highlighted non-citizen voting as a critical issue in this election cycle. He cited Washington, D.C., as an example where non-citizens are allowed to vote in municipal elections, and warned of the potential for illegal voting in federal elections. Steil emphasized the importance of enforcing voting laws to prevent unauthorized individuals from participating in elections.
Several states are also taking steps to address problems with voter registration. Alabama, for instance, recently removed over 3,000 individuals from its voter rolls due to citizenship issues. Arizona and Georgia have similarly discovered irregularities, such as voters registered without proper citizenship documentation or ballots counted twice during recounts.
In Wisconsin, concerns arose after 2,215 duplicate ballots were mistakenly sent out to voters. The local authorities in Madison quickly acted to rectify the issue, reassuring the public that no duplicate ballots would be counted.
