As the 2024 U.S. presidential election approaches, the race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris is remarkably close in five key battleground states. A recent survey by Rasmussen Reports and NumbersUSA reveals that if the election were held today, 48% of likely voters in Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin would vote for Trump, while 47% would support Harris. A small percentage, 3%, would choose another candidate, and 2% remain undecided.
The economy is the top issue for 35% of voters in these states, followed by border security at 17% and abortion at 13%. The state-by-state breakdown shows Trump leading slightly in Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, while Harris holds a narrow lead in Michigan and Wisconsin.
Immigration is a critical issue, with 61% of voters believing the government is not doing enough to reduce illegal immigration. Only 26% think Harris would handle immigration better than Biden, while 50% believe Trump’s policies would be more effective.
The survey also highlights a close race for control of the U.S. House of Representatives, with 47% of voters favoring Democratic candidates and 46% leaning toward Republicans.
As the election nears, these battleground states are likely to play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the 2024 presidential race.
