Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham on October 24, 1986, in Toronto, Canada, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. He first gained recognition as an actor on the Canadian teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation, where he played Jimmy Brooks from 2001 to 2007. During his time on the show, Drake began pursuing a music career, releasing his first mixtape, Room for Improvement, in 2006, followed by Comeback Season in 2007. His breakthrough came with the 2009 mixtape So Far Gone, which included the hit single "Best I Ever Had" and earned him a recording contract with Lil Wayne's label, Young Money Entertainment.

Drake’s debut studio album, Thank Me Later, was released in 2010 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
