The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has unveiled a series of billboard ads in North Carolina linking former President Donald Trump to the state's Republican gubernatorial candidate, Mark Robinson. The move follows a recent CNN report detailing Robinson's controversial past comments on a pornography website.
The billboards feature images of Trump and Robinson together, highlighting Trump's endorsement of Robinson. The ads will appear in major North Carolina cities like Raleigh, Charlotte, and Greensboro, ahead of Trump’s rally in Wilmington on Saturday.
Robinson’s campaign has been under scrutiny following the CNN report, which uncovered remarks he made online, including offensive comments about civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and a description of himself as a "black Nazi." Additionally, Politico reported that an email linked to Robinson was registered on Ashley Madison, a website known for facilitating extramarital affairs. Robinson has denied these allegations.
The DNC and Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign see Robinson’s controversies as an opportunity to challenge Trump’s influence in the state. DNC chair Jaime Harrison criticized both Trump and Robinson, calling them “extremists” and emphasizing their ties.
With North Carolina being a key state in the upcoming elections, both parties are intensifying their efforts to sway voters.
