Death toll from Israeli airstrike in Beirut rises to 37, including children and women

The death toll from an Israeli airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut has reached 37, as reported by Lebanon's health minister. Among the deceased are three children aged four, six, and ten, and seven women. The attack occurred during rush hour on Friday, targeting residential buildings in the Dahiya district and injuring over 60 individuals.

Israel's military stated that the strike aimed at members of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Forces, claiming that at least 16 militants were killed. Hezbollah confirmed the deaths of two commanders, Ibrahim Aqil and Ahmad Mahmoud Wahabi, alongside 12 other members. Following the attack, Lebanon's Minister of Public Works and Transport described the incident as a "war crime" and expressed concerns about escalating regional tensions.

In response, Iran's Supreme Leader condemned the strike, alleging that Israel was committing crimes against civilians. Concurrently, the Israeli military reported engaging targets associated with Hezbollah in northern Lebanon, while Hezbollah launched rockets toward northern Israel.

This recent airstrike follows a series of deadly explosions in Lebanon attributed to Israel, resulting in numerous casualties and highlighting the rising tensions in the region. Analysts express concern over the implications for international law and the potential for further escalation.
