Chiefs Win Season Opener as Ravens' Late Touchdown is Overturned

The Kansas City Chiefs began their NFL title defense with a thrilling 27-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, who had a potential game-tying touchdown overturned in the final seconds.

With just two minutes remaining and the Chiefs leading 27-20, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson drove his team to the Chiefs' 10-yard line. Jackson had three attempts to find the endzone, but after two incomplete passes, Isaiah Likely caught what appeared to be a touchdown on the third attempt. The score, which would have set up a chance for a two-point conversion to win the game, was overturned on review when replays showed Likely's toe had landed out of bounds.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh had already signaled his intention to go for a two-point conversion to win, but the ruling left the Chiefs victorious, sparking celebrations at Arrowhead Stadium. Among the cheering crowd was Taylor Swift, girlfriend of Chiefs' star Travis Kelce.

The Chiefs, seeking to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, have now won five of their last six meetings against the Ravens.

The game started with Ravens' new signing Derrick Henry powering his way to an early touchdown. Rookie receiver Xavier Worthy responded for the Chiefs with a rushing touchdown, and two Harrison Butker field goals gave Kansas City a 13-10 lead at halftime. A touchdown by Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco extended the lead before Likely's 49-yard touchdown brought the Ravens back into contention.
