Border patrol faces subpoena threat over Harris’ role as border czar

House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer has issued a warning to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Acting Commissioner Troy Miller, threatening a subpoena if documents related to Vice President Kamala Harris' role as border czar are not provided. Comer sent a letter to Miller requesting documents and communications about Harris' involvement in managing the border crisis.

Comer’s letter states that the CBP has not produced any documents or a timeline for compliance with the committee's request. If this continues, Comer indicated that the committee may take further actions, including issuing a subpoena to compel the release of information.

Harris was appointed by President Joe Biden to oversee border issues, but the surge of illegal migrants in recent years has raised concerns. Lawmakers now seek more details about her efforts or involvement in addressing the situation.
