In light of the recent Los Angeles Times article about the decision to have or not have children, if it's not clear to anyone yet—let this be the wake-up call: if the current trend of people opting out of parenthood continues, society—yes, human civilization—could face extinction. Sound extreme? No, it's an understatement. Just look at Japan: 36.25 million elderly people, nearly one-third of the population. How will that society function in 10 or 20 years when there's no younger generation to work in hospitals, farms, construction—anywhere? Who will care for the elderly when there simply aren’t enough young people left?
This is the beginning of the end, and it’s a trend we cannot reverse easily—if at all.
We are all here today because our parents sacrificed for us. They brought us into the world, invested time and effort into raising us so we could live and thrive. And now, we've become so selfish that we prioritize our careers, financial freedom, and personal pleasures over the most fundamental duty of continuing life itself. Screw that! Forget your Pilates classes, your gluten-free diets—if you can’t see that raising children is the most important responsibility we have, then brace yourself for a future where we grow old, fragile, and utterly alone. A world where nobody gives a damn about us.
What a dark, terrifying future we’re heading towards if we don’t wake up now.
