Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo made strong remarks on Wednesday, urging voters to "extinguish" former President Donald Trump from American politics by voting him out. The statement came during an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," where she was discussing the upcoming election.
Raimondo was asked about Trump’s recent comments on being a “protector” of women if he were to win another term in the White House. In response, she stated, "How did we get here? Let’s extinguish him for good." Pressed to clarify her remarks, she explained that she meant Trump should be removed from politics through the electoral process, saying, "Vote him out, banish him from American politics. Yes, just vote him out so he goes away."
The former Rhode Island governor emphasized the importance of electing a candidate she described as sincere and pragmatic, in reference to Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running against Trump in the general election.
Raimondo’s comments have stirred debate, coming at a time when security concerns surrounding Trump remain heightened after two failed assassination attempts and ongoing threats.
