Arnold Schwarzenegger, born on July 30, 1947, in Thal, Austria, is an Austrian-American actor, film producer, businessman, former bodybuilder, and politician. He first gained worldwide fame as a bodybuilder, winning the Mr. Universe title at age 20 and going on to win the Mr. Olympia contest seven times, becoming one of the most successful bodybuilders in history. His success in bodybuilding was chronicled in the 1977 documentary Pumping Iron, which helped bring both Schwarzenegger and the sport to mainstream attention.

Schwarzenegger transitioned to acting in the 1970s, gaining early recognition for his roles in Conan the Barbarian (1982) and Conan the Destroyer (1984). His breakthrough role came in 1984 when he starred as the titular character in The Terminator, directed by James Cameron. The film’s success led to a series of major action roles for Schwarzenegger, including in Commando (1985), Predator (1987), Total Recall (1990), and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), establishing him as one of Hollywood’s leading action stars. His time in office was marked by a blend of centrist policies, balancing progressive environmental actions with fiscally conservative initiatives.

After his time as governor, Schwarzenegger returned to acting, starring in films such as The Expendables series and Terminator Genisys (2015), while continuing his advocacy work on environmental and political issues.
